Conversations avec la ville.

In these "conversations" I offer a subjective reading of architecture and urban spaces. Structures, surfaces, materials, street and building details are reinterpreted using techniques specific to photography. The play of textures, shadow and light, reflections, transparencies, double exposures convey my emotions and blur the reference to reality. A fantasized city thus superimposes itself on the real city, reflecting my perception of the urban between fascination and repulsion. This photographic work also pays homage - and holds up a mirror - to the architects and urban planners whose work shines through in mine, a bit like a palimpsest.

Transit

Leaving in the morning. Coming back in the evening. Starting again the day after. And the day after the day after. Again and again. Crossing the city without seeing it. Without seeing it above all.

Dans le ventre de la machine

Beneath B.'s concrete, there's still concrete. These are the foundations of the elevated metro, a subterranean universe, secret and silent, especially when compared with the world above. There are solids, hollows, columns, beams, walkways, pulleys, toothed wheels, and a lot of gray. There beats the heart of the machine, and if you think about it, that of the city. For up there, on the upper floor, passengers glide, fleetingly, toward their daily destiny.

What have cities done to us?

"The city appears to you as a whole in which no desire is lost and of which you are a part, and since it itself enjoys everything that you do not enjoy, all you have to do is live this desire and to be happy with it. Such is the power, which some say evil, others beneficial, of Anastasia, the deceptive city: if eight hours a day you work as a cutter of agates, onyx, chrysophrases, your pain which gives shape to desire takes itself its form, and you think you are enjoying Anastasia when you are only her slave " Italo Calvino, Invisible cities.
